POPUP Patron Dr. Malesela Motlalta
POPUP is privileged that Dr. Malesela Motlatla accepted an invitation to act as the patron of this organisation. This unique man's philosophy is: “Faith is the abundance of things hoped for the evidence of things to come.”
As an astute businessman, Dr. Motlatla serves on the board of Directors of several companies and is also, inter alia, involved in the following professional boards and associations:
- Member of the Audit Committee – Department of Trade and Industry
- Chairman of the Black Management Forum – Tshwane (1989-1996)
- President of the Black Management Forum – Gauteng Province (1997-2001)
- President of the concerned Black Men Inc – 1998 to date
- Executive Chairman – Pretoria Development Trust
- Chairman – Technikon Northern Gauteng Foundation
Dr. Motlatla's educational qualifications include a BA (UNISA), Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing (UNISA), DCOM (UNISA), Diploma in Business Management and further studies through the Wharton School of Business (Philadelphia).
He has received several key recognition awards which include the Nelson Mandela Award – Black Education Upgrade Projects for his contribution to community development and education, the “Inter-national Man of the Year Award” by the International Biographical Centre (Cambridge) and the “Honoree Lifetime Achievement Award” for contributions made to South African business and the economy. In addition he was also appoint-ed “Lifetime Deputy Governor of the American Biographical Institute Research Association.
Dr. Motlatla has been a council member of his church for the past 30 years and does strategic work in various other churches as well. He enjoys music and start-ed a choir 40 years ago and is also the patron of the Inter-Provincial Catholic Church Choir Music Association (SA). He has been married for 41 years, has two sons and a daughter and is the proud grandfather of five grandchildren. |
