Volunteering at POPUP
Since POPUP first started volunteers played an important role in the work we do. Volunteers have helped increase the services and the quality of service we deliver. Volunteers have played in important role in achieving our vision.
Individuals, companies, organisations, school learners and students have all made a difference at POPUP.
Where can I get involved?
The areas where you can assist us include:
- POPKids
- The clothing store
- Sorting and packing donated clothing
- Coordinating and handing out clothing
- General maintenance of the buildings and grounds
- Electrical and plumbing work
- Administrative duties, i.e. data-capturing
- Students in specialised fields such (for example dentistry, nursing, physiotherapy and occupational therapy) can become involved in one of the POPUP clinics or in the Early Childhood Development and Home-based Care Skills programmes
- Specialised assistance in the Sewing and Arts & Crafts Skills Programmes
How do I become involved?
You can phone our reception and they will direct you to the right person to talk to. A meeting will then be scheduled where you can discuss your volunteering with us and where you will be briefed about POPUP.
You should also consider the following if you want to become a volunteer:
- Availability during working hours (Mondays to Fridays)
- Qualifications, experience and expertise
- Passions and talents
- Commitment and loyalty
