Makhulong Foster Care Programme
"Where orphaned and vulnerable children can be restored and educated to achieve their purpose in life." At MFCP we aim to:
- Nurture vulnerable children in loving, caring family homes.
- Follow a holistic approach in the development of the children
- Expose the children to opportunities that will enhance their development.
Makhulong Foster Care Programme (MFCP) is a haven for aids and aids related orphans situated in the Edendale community. 20 children, irrespective of their race, religion or nationality are currently being taken care of. It is envisaged that the number of children will be increased to 60 within the near future. In order to create the most normal home possible where children don't feel as if they are in an "institution" the "family home" model is followed, with two parents and a maximum of six children per home (including the biological children of the home's parents). In addition there is a learning centre for the children with special needs where each child can learn at his/her own pace thereby enabling them to reach their full potential. uMephi (AFM of SA) administers the statutory services of the children's home. You can assist us in making a difference and touching the lives of children who have no hope. Please support us financially. A needs list is available from POPUP or you can contact Rina Prenzler at 082 572 4173 or rina@prenzler.co.za. Visit www.makhulong.co.za for more information |
